Henry S. Jacobs Camp
Why Jacobs Camp is so important to us
Henry S. Jacobs Camp, located in Utica, MS, less than 3 hours from Touro Synagogue, has provided wonderful Jewish summers for over 40 years. When a child attends overnight summer camp at Jacobs for a session of 10 days, or 4 weeks or more, the whole family is enlisted in the “Jacobs Magic.” As you can see in the above picture, Touro members as young as second grade, to those traveling to Israel with camp friends following 10th grade, as well as young synagogue leaders and camp board members, come to Jacobs Camp to share their enthusiasm for all they do in life.
When asked why Jacobs Camp is so important to them, many camp families responded that their whole family became more interested in what Reform Judaism has to offer, both at synagogue and in family life, all through attending camp. Camp helps the whole family enjoy Reform Judaism and leads the whole family to an engaged Jewish life.
Statistics speak: supplemental Jewish education is just a small part of a complete and whole Jewish educational experience. Jewish summer camp and Israel trips take this education to new and elevated levels.
Touro families will tell you about camp at any time and how it has made all the difference in their children’s lives.
What are the Camp’s Goals and Philosophy?
