Purim at Touro
LET’S CELEBRATE PURIM!
Thought the time for masks, funny hats, feasting, libations, and turning the world upside down was over? Think again – it’s time for Purim! We’ll remember the courage of Queen Esther with fun and learning for kids and adults.
All ages welcome! Don’t forget your costumes!
5:30PM PURIM FUN FOR KIDS
PreK-6th Grade Touro kids are invited to come and get into the Purim Spirit with us! We’ll spend the evening having a blast while we bake Hamantaschen, make groggers, and retell the Purim story together. Make sure to dress up in a fun costume and bring all of your silly and festive Purim energy! We’ll join the congregation at 6:45 for the Megillah reading followed by pizza and Hamantaschen. Childcare is available for children under PreK 4.
6:00PM ADULT LEARNING SESSION
AGES OF EMPIRES: MODERN IRAN AND ANCIENT PERSIA
WITH ELLIS ARJMAND & CANTOR MARGOLIUS
Dr. Ellis Arjmand will set the scene for our megillah reading as he teaches about the modern forces that have shaped Iran and its conflicts into the 21st century. This land was not only home to Queen Esther—it has had its own Jewish community for centuries, continuing to this very day. Light refreshments will be served, and childcare is available for children under PreK 4.
6:45PM CONGREGATIONAL MEGILLAH READING IN THE SANCTUARY
Musical, lively reading of the Book of Esther. Get ready to make some noise!
