Adult Education

From bi-monthly lunchtime explorations of books handpicked by Rabbi Berk, to study of Hebrew language and liturgy with Cantor Mintz, Touro Synagogue is committed to providing adult education opportunities that inspire and challenge our congregation.

Torah Study at Touro

Unwrapping Ancient Wisdom in a Post-Modern World

Every Saturday morning, beginning at 9:00 a.m., congregants gather in our Mautner Learning Center to study the weekly Parashah (Torah Portion). The discussions are led by congregants who extend an open invitation regardless of experience with Hebrew or the Torah. Beginners are encouraged to join. If you have wanted to bring some Torah into your life or explore the text more deeply, this is the ideal way to start your Shabbat.

Bagels and coffee are served to accompany the lively and informative discussion on what our ancestors had to say about the stories of the bible. Occasionally Rabbi Berk or visiting clergy are invited to lead us in Torah study. Study is concluded in time for everyone to join us for Shabbat morning worship at 10:30 a.m.
