A Time of Revelation

A message from Rabbi Bauman:

It is always important to handle the Torah with care because it is fragile. But when it’s open, when each beautiful, hand-printed letter on the page is exposed, that’s when we must be the most careful. But at the same time, when it’s open, when each beautiful, hand-printed letter on the page is exposed, that’s when we have the chance to marvel at it and learn from it. That’s when revelation occurs.

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks teaches that each of us is a letter in the scroll. And right now, each letter in the scroll, each one of us, is vulnerable in ways we never imagined…so we must be careful with one another,
physically and relationally.

But this is also a time to marvel at one another, at our collective generosity in retreating from the world so others can live. And this is also a time to learn from one another, to learn from one another’s creativity, wisdom, and strength. Yes, we must handle this moment with care.
But it is also a moment of revelation.
